On Wednesday 21st December, Crescent decided to hold our annual Christmas lunch in aid of Children in Need.
Everyone made a tremendous effort, bringing in festive treats, homemade Christmas mugs and contributing to the fundraisers.
There were lots of fun and games with great prizes. This included:
The Christmas Mugs auction – our colleagues filled a mug with treats and goodies and we then auctioned them off. The winner of the most creative mug was the much loved Sylvie and therefore won a mug of her choice.
Best Christmas jumper competition! As you can see from the pictures, there were some great ones!
Pin the nose on the reindeer
The Christmas Charity raffle
The day was a fantastic success, in total raising £400! Thank you to all the team.
From all of us at Crescent Pharma, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Now available, Lunox Sleep Aid 25mg Tablets and Lunox Max Strength Sleep Aid 50mg Tablets!
Crescent Pharma, which manufactures generics and branded products, have now launched Lunox Sleep Aid. These tablets are a medicine to aid temporary sleep disturbances.
Lunox Sleep Aid contains the active substance diphenhydramine hydrochloride which is an antihistamine with sedative properties which induces drowsiness or sedation. It works by reducing the time needed to fall asleep and increases the depth and quality of sleep.
Our 5 favourite tips to aid sleeping in the hot weather.
Cotton on to using cotton! Avoid the temptation of going completely starkers as the hot moisture will go straight to the mattress, heating your bed up. Cotton pyjamas lets your skin breathe and allows for air circulation.
Cool (running) wrists. Run your wrists under cold water for 30 seconds. As your wrists are a pulse point, making them less hot will help keep your whole body temperature down as it cools the blood.
Embrace the darkness! Keep your curtains closed during the day to keep the heat at bay. When you come home from work then you can open up the curtains and windows to let the cool air in.
“Ice ice bottle, (dun du du dun du du dun dun)” Fill a hot water bottle with ice cold water or put it in the freezer to make an ice pack then take to bed to stop you from overheating.
Bonus tip! Longer nights means those night owls are out and about for longer and louder. Try using some earplugs to block out any distracting sounds for a better night’s sleep.
If you, like us, struggle sleeping at festivals, then worry no more. We have collated the ultimate good night’s sleep tips.
Make your comfort ‘in-tents’. We suggest a blow up mattress for some elevation from a hard floor. Plus with a blow up bed you can set whether you want it firm or soft, providing optimum comfort. Avoid getting woken up by the sunshine streaming through your tent by wearing an eye mask to bed. Remember pyjamas so you have something dry to wear too.
Earplugs! Whilst we know this may sound counterproductive, especially if you’ve gone to a music festival to listen to the music, earplugs are an essential for two reasons. Firstly, they are perfect for blocking sound from outside your tent to let you get some shut eye. For a good night’s sleep try our Otifleks Goodsleep Earplugs here. Secondly, looking after your hearing is crucial if you want to avoid tinnitus. Tinnitus is described as ringing in your ears, something you may relate to after you have been to a gig or been listening to loud music. Take care of your ears by wearing earplugs. No midnight snacks! Try not to eat too close to bed. Chocolate can be a sneaky one as it contains caffeine which can keep you up. Also if you are full your body is still digesting your food, making it harder to fall asleep.
Punish the pollen. If sleeping with the window open at home means you wake up sneezing then sleeping outside in a field probably isn’t going to help. Remember to take your allergy medication with you. Top tip: Smear some salve around your nostrils before falling asleep. The pollen will stick to the salve, without irritating your hayfever. Breathe free.
Honey has so many unusual uses therefore we’re buzzing to share with you what this liquid gold can do.
You say hay-fever, we say ‘bye’-fever. If you’re a regular allergy sufferer whenever summer comes to play, then this may be a game changer. As bees collect pollen from plant to plant, eating locally produced honey can help. Eating a daily amount of honey can desensitize you to pollen, acting like an allergy shot.
You are the wash that I want, you are the wash I want. Ooh ooh ooooh, Honey! Believe it or not, you can wash your hair with honey. It’s great for conditioning your hair, leaving it feeling silky and soft. People have also washed their face with honey for centuries due to honey’s ability to help soften skin and even reduce acne. Check out Well + Good’s review of swapping facewash for honey.
Buzz-zzZ. One of the benefits of honey is that it can help you to get to sleep. If you have ever woken up in the middle of night this could be a sign of high stress levels. Honey and salt are known to reduce the hormones associated with stress. To help you drift of, it’s suggested to have a spoonful of honey with a sprinkling of salt before bed, or if you get woken up in the middle of the night.
Honey, have you heard about these earplugs? Otifleks Natural Beeswax Earplugs are made from a honeycomb and cotton fibre mixture. The mixture’s anti-bacterial properties prevent the spread of germs from your hands or surrounding environment to your ear. Ideal for use in showers and whilst swimming. Otifleks Natural Beeswax Earplugs can also be used with new born babies because of its all natural formulation. The earplugs combine olive oil, cotton and beeswax and the cotton fibre adds solidity, keeping the natural beeswax from disintegrating, splitting or breaking Buy them here.
Stick yourself back together. Honey can be use on cuts or burns as it has antibacterial properties. Honey can prevent infection and can help with the healing process.
Summertime often fills the majority of the nation with joy and excitement. Going out in the sun, sharing a BBQ with some friends or even getting round to some much needed gardening are just some of the better sides to being in the great weather. However, for one in five people in the UK, summer spells the dreaded season of hay fever. Continuous sneezing fits, itchy eyes and throat and a stuffy, blocked nose are to name but a few of the nasty symptoms hay fever sufferers go through each year.
Luckily, we have compiled a list of some useful tips to help you fight back against hay fever. There are so many out there, but here are our favourite hay fever tips.
Be a cool dude or dudette
To help protect your eyes during the summer, wearing sunglasses will not only block out the blinding UV rays from the sun, but also help stop pollen from reaching your eyes. Wraparound styles are the most effective type to wear during the summer season.
Antihistamines are the most commonly used medicines to combat and prevent symptoms from allergies, particularly hay fever. We recommend taking them around two weeks before you really need them. By doing this, the effectiveness will be substantially increased compared to starting them from when the first symptoms appear. Antihistamines come in different forms including eye drops, nasal sprays, one-a-day tablets such as cetirizine and liquid oral solutions such as Allerief.
Local raw honey contains grains of pollen. If you have a teaspoon of honey every day, your body will gradually develop immunity to the pollen in your area over time. This isn’t one of our hay fever tips that has been scientifically proven, but it is supported by a large number of people swearing by the remedy, meaning we think it’s definitely worth a try.
Being out of the house, you will potentially have been exposed to a high amount of pollen. Showering before bed, will wash most of the pollen off (especially in the hair). This means it won’t get on your bed sheets, allowing for a better night’s sleep.
Apply a small amount of Vaseline or nasal salve around the nostrils at the beginning of the day. This will help to trap pollen and stop it from going into the sinuses.
It is always tempting to open your windows at night as you might feel uncomfortable from the heated summer evenings. However, it will be much more beneficial to keep them closed and get a better nights sleep. Keeping your windows shut will help to keep your home allergen free. Click here to see some more tips for sleeping when in the hot weather.
Pollen levels are always relatively low by the sea, so take a trip down out the coast. Have fun splashing in water, building sandcastles, eating ice creams and being hay fever symptom free.
