Why You Should Brush Your Teeth
Brushing your teeth twice a day for most of us is part of a daily morning and night ritual. This means lots of happy and healthy smiles. It is recommended to spend a minimum of 2 minutes brushing each time. There are a number of reasons why you should brush your teeth and here we will explore some of them.
Prevent Gum Disease
In everyone’s mouth, a build-up of plaque on your teeth happens throughout the day. Plaque is an accumulation of bacteria and food, which if left, can lead to diseases such as Gingivitis. Inflammation of the gums and bleeding will often be the early signs of gum disease.
Clear Out Bacteria
Cleaning your mouth from bacteria is a very important reason why you should brush your teeth. If you don’t brush your teeth with toothpaste, then these bacteria can lead to an array of problems. It can damage the enamel of your teeth which will effectively result in gum and tooth decay. Bacteria is also the cause of bad breath so by brushing your teeth twice a day, your friends and loved ones will be more likely to stick around and talk to you.
Prevent Tartar Build-up
If you don’t brush your teeth daily then a thing called tartar will get attached to your teeth. Tartar is a hard, calcified deposit consisting of plaque that forms on the teeth. It is very hard to remove and leads to gum infections and tooth decay. Smoking will increase the chances of health problems associated with tartar.
Reduces Other Health Risks
The more bacteria you have in your mouth, the higher chance there is of bacteria making its way into your bloodstream. Having these bacteria in your bloodstream increases the risk of a build-up of cholesterol that will clog the arteries. Clogged arteries can then cause more serious health problems such as strokes and heart attacks.
Save Money
Aside from all the health reasons, brushing your teeth will also help save you money. Constant trips to the dentist that were easily avoidable can soon become very expensive. Simply by brushing your teeth twice a day you will reduce the number of trips you need to see your dentist. This means you will have lots of extra money to spend on something nice to go with your happy and healthy smile.
Brushing alone is not enough to keep a healthy mouth. Using mouthwash and dental floss alongside your daily brushing routine will help get rid of any extra bits of leftover food and improve your oral health overall.
